Organization and Accountability

Our Executive Director and a team of dedicated volunteers perform the activities of PES without compensation. A Board of Directors made up of a diverse group of committed individuals, including former Lost Boys, oversees the organization. The Board makes major decisions regarding site selection, funding and operations in connection with its Sudanese Advisory Council. Project Education Sudan teams make regular trips to Sudan to assess work in progress and to meet with village and regional leaders, teachers, students and construction managers. Funds provided to PES from US sources are released as progress is made on specific projects. In working with indigenous organizations, Project Education Sudan uses the UNICEF accountability model for project funding, inspection and verification of spending requests.
